Players Association Remembers Jim Bouton

Major League Baseball Players Association Executive Director Tony Clark today issued the following statement regarding the passing of Jim Bouton:

“Gifted with an unflinching ability to speak truth to power, Jim Bouton was elected the Yankees’ player representative in 1963 and was among the players who alongside his great friend Marvin Miller turned our organization into a genuine labor union three years later. We are indebted to Jim for his advocacy on behalf of the player fraternity, and we can all learn from his courage of conviction and willingness to stand for what he believed to be right. He will be missed.” --Executive Director Tony Clark
