2019 Michael Weiner Scholarship for Labor Studies Recipient — Daniela Archila

Daniela Archila just completed her second year at Berkeley Law, where she is a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) team as well as a member of the Berkeley Journal of Employment & Labor Law. As part of the ADR team this year, Daniela competed at the UCLA Transactional Law Competition. Last summer, Archila spent it in California working at Weinberg, Roger & Rosenfeld, one of the nation's leading law firms representing unions. She also worked at WRR part-time during the academic term. During her first year at Berkeley Law, Daniela served as a client counselor at the East Bay Workers’ Rights Clinic and as a member of the Berkeley Journal of Criminal Law. Daniela comes from an immigrant family of organizers and activists, who instilled in her a passion for workers’ justice. She received a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University, and a double minor in Law & Society, and French. Before attending law school, she served as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Youth Build Charter Schools of California as part of their Construction Academy, where she connected students with union jobs. While in college, Daniela worked at the Yang Tan Institute on Employment and Disability as a policymaking intern, and Tompkins County Workers’ Center, collecting local labor data as part of a research effort with Cornell. She spent several summers interning at Make the Road New York, working on multiple campaigns for workplace justice.
