Chief Human Resources Officer
Michael O’Neill is the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at the Players Association and has over 25 years of human resources experience. His primary responsibilities are providing strategic support to MLBPA leadership, overseeing organizational compliance with national and international employment laws, training and developing staff, and ensuring that the union, as it continues to grow, has consistent and appropriate policies and procedures.
Michael is a New York native and received his bachelor's degree in accounting from St. John’s University before graduating from New York Law School with his JD. After practicing law early in his career, he transitioned to HR, where he served in various HR roles within the private equity, technology and legal sectors. Prior to joining the MLBPA he was a Senior Managing Director for 12 years at Guggenheim Partners, a global investment and financial services firm, and CHRO for three years at an AMLAW 200 law firm.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys doing puzzles and playing other games and is an avid sports and mixed martial arts fan. Several years ago, he developed a passion for cross-fit training and made it a major part of his life. He follows baseball closely and is a lifelong New York Yankees fan.
